Women to Succeed in Business

Equipping Minority Women to Succeed in Business Benefits All

In today’s society, it is essential to provide a supportive environment for minority women to thrive in various industries. The Metropolitan Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been instrumental in creating such an atmosphere by empowering women entrepreneurs to launch and grow their businesses. This chamber has been promoting the success of minority women-owned businesses since its establishment in 2012. As a business owner, I believe it is essential to prioritize supporting organizations like these to benefit the entire community. Supporting minority women leads to success for all and the Metropolitan Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s work is an excellent example.

Hispanic women in business have unique needs

It is a fact that more diverse companies earn higher profits, as diversity leads to new perspectives and ideas, resulting in increased creativity and problem-solving skills. Here, minority women play a significant role in contributing to this success. The Metropolitan Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce works closely with women entrepreneurs and provides relevant support and resources that are unique to them. This support is incredibly vital, especially in the early stages of their businesses.

Metropolitan Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce also allows women entrepreneurs to connect with investors and fellow entrepreneurs, paving the way for success in their businesses. The organization has helped several minority women break into industries previously barred to them, thus opening up new avenues for growth and success. By supporting minority women, businesses can encourage representation and diversity, providing an opportunity to flourish

The Women in Business Conference

The Women in Business Conference, held annually since 2022, has been a massive success in bringing together women entrepreneurs and facilitating networking and growth opportunities. I had the honor of being the Mistress of Ceremonies during its inaugural year and I was blown away by the talent and drive of the women who attended, ready to learn and put in the work.
At the Women in Business Conference, the Chamber provides educational sessions and workshops such as the marketing plan workshop, which I had the honor of leading this year. By empowering women with the skills to create and execute successful marketing plans, the Chamber ensures the success of businesses. This creates a chain of benefits, taking the entire community towards the top. Several news outlets, including WTOC TV in Savannah, highlighted the event and its impact.

This year’s Mistress of Ceremonies for the Women in Business conference was award-winning journalist Kim Gusby, a celebrity Morning News Anchor for NBC in Savannah WSAV who welcomed everyone with an inclusive message. As a black professional woman, she noted how much she identifies with the Hispanic community and encouraged everyone to consider how to build on what we all have in common with each other to support one another.

The Minority Women in Business Conference was geared toward Hispanic women but open to all and there was a diverse audience that included women of all ethnicities who benefited from the workshops and inspiration. While this particular event was designed to empower women, the Metropolitan Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as a whole has programs and events to equip men as well as other communities that can benefit from its tailored programs.

Take the Next Step

The Metropolitan Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce provides multiple opportunities to interact and engage with minority-owned businesses, such as sponsorships or volunteering. These opportunities allow businesses, both big and small, to contribute to empowering minorities to have successful businesses. With greater representation of minorities in leadership positions, the workforce becomes more diverse, which leads to new innovations and progress. ways to get involved include:

  • Become a member
  • Attend events
  • Sponsor events
  • Join the board of directors
  • Make donations
  • Volunteer your time
Supporting minority entrepreneurs leads to more diverse business solutions and increased creativity and problem-solving. The Metropolitan Savannah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce supports minority women-owned businesses in creating successful businesses that benefit everyone. By supporting diverse representations in leadership positions, businesses open the door to new ideas and innovations that will have a positive impact on the entire community. As business owners, it is essential to prioritize supporting organizations like these to foster diversity and growth. Together, we can empower minorities to succeed in businesses that benefit the community as a whole.
